This week sees the opening of two exhibitions, simultaneously.
First up is Snake Eyes 3.0 at Fried Contemporary in Pretoria. This show is curated by Found Collective and won the best visual arts prize at last year’s Aardklop Festival in Potchefstroom.
For Snake Eyes 3.0 Christo Niemandt and myself will be setting up our iteration of Re-View Mirror, part of the Project/Project concept where we use a visual feedback loop, projecting the dark screen onto itself; adding mirrors which project parts of the visual field outward onto a screen and conversely reflect imagery from beyond the camera’s visual frame back into the camera.
Our idea is to show the complex absurdity of our fragmented digital lives in a visually interactive sculptural installation. Some of the nuances can be quite mind bending…
Opening 17 May 2018, 18:00, Fried Contemporary Art Gallery, Pretoria
Welcome to the jungle!
This group exhibition brings together South African contemporary artists who incorporate botanical elements in their work.
In the Forests of the Night opens in conjunction with the South African Botanical Art Worldwide Exhibition at Everard Read.
I am very proud and excited to be part of this exhibition.
Opening 17 May 2018, 18:00, Circa on Jellicoe, Johannesburg
