The International Biennale of Glass in Sofia, Bulgaria

I’m excited to announce my involvement in the fourth edition of the International Biennale of Glass in Sofia, Bulgaria. The event will be hosted at the esteemed National Gallery Kvadrat 500, UniArt Gallery, and Sredets Gallery, featuring an impressive display of over 230 artworks from 48 different countries. The Biennale will be open to the public from October 6th to December 3rd, 2023.

One of my pieces, “Crouching Leopard,” has been selected by the curatorial jury to be a part of this prestigious international exhibition showcasing contemporary glass art. This magnificent creation, crafted from a single block of Schott optical crystal, exemplifies my sculptural approach to cold-working glass.

Lathe Riders Presentation on 7 October!

We’ve also been granted the wonderful opportunity to deliver a lecture on the Lathe Riders, offering valuable insights into the promotion of cold work. It’s a great pleasure to collaborate with the Glass Engraving Network in this presentation, shedding light on the art of glass engraving.

Representing the Lathe Riders at the International Biennale of Glass will be Samuel Weisenborn and myself, Lothar Böttcher, along with the esteemed presence of Ioana Stelea from the Glass Engraving Network.

We’re excited to share the backstory of how the Lathe Riders came into being and recount some of the unforgettable moments from our recent Grit & Wheels event at Bild-Werk, Frauenau, held this past summer.

You’re cordially invited to join us, along with other presenters, both in person and online, through the IBG Connect platform on October 6th and 7th.
