Rocket Cat (2025)

Rocket Cat is one of my recent explorations to sculpturally combine blown and solid elements. This Precious Beast has a sleek, refined quality — polished body and blown head.

Rocket Cat belongs to my ongoing Precious Beast series that evolve through deliberate carving and most recently also through the logic of found material. My practice is shifting, accumulating and repurposing glass fragments and elements that have been set aside in the studio.

Rocket Cat emerged as an assemblage of “lost” parts that took on a life of their own, where discarded fragments become the raw vocabulary of a new creature. 

The almost twisted counteracting balance between the heavy optical crystal body and blown lanceolate form is particularly interesting and gives this sculpture a life-like dynamic. 

Rocket Cat and other works were recently exhibited at the Glass Art & Design Salon in Paris.
